Can I use RR epoxy mixed w/ Cabosil to glue a poly foam insert into EPS foam?

Somehow I toed one of my Future fin boxes 1/2" and meant to toe it 1/4"… fvcking pissed. Plan to route out the hole and fill it w/ a poly foam insert I’m getting from a buddy. What would you suggest to use to glue it in there?

Thanks,

Tommy

Yeah, RR, microballoons would be better, easier to sand where the joins protrude.

why not just reroute it in the correct position and leave the rest (which will be hardly anything)

tale the screw out first

Luckily, I caught the f-up before I set the boxes w/ resin.

I did the same thing

I just moved it over and routed

just put it in with cabo mix and swip off the excess

It's no big deal. Murphy's Law!

The best fix is to make it look like you planned it.

-Make a jig 6" x 2 1/2" oval in shape on a piece of 3/8 ply

-Cut out your boxes along their edges and pop them out.

-Using your jig rout out new holes around the previous fin box placements. Use a bit with a bearing guide.

-Leaving it nice and clean. If you have some chunks don't worry about it.

-Take your jig and trace you holes on to a sheet of 5/8" or whatever thickness you need of XPS or PU foam.

-Cut  out your tracings with a japaneese pull saw. Nice thin blade and easier to control than a jig saw.

-Sand even and make a perfect plug.

-using some epoxy attach the new plugs of foam into the repair.

-let it set up.

-sand the plug flush to the board surface

-mark you fin settings correctly this time

-route for fin boxes

-install as you normally would

If you do it right it will look like it was planned.

The problem with filling a hole with a bunch of material is you compromise the quality of your board.

Let me know if this helps? I wish I had some pictures for you.

If you have some gaps use microballons.
