Can this design accommodate a twin keel setup?

I picked this beater up as a restore project. I plan to take the fin out and replace with box(es). The outline seemed more parallel in the picture than in real life and I’m a bit worried if a twin setup will even function properly with the wide point so far forward and the tail as narrow as it is. Flotation is not a problem, even in the tail, this thing is a beast, it just looks like it likes to be ridden farther forward on the board. I’m inclined to just go for it anyway as an experiment and worst case scenario there will still be a single box there…

From there it’s a question of placement, do I go with Skip Frye / Christenson long fish style super far back almost at the tail end, or halfway to mark Richards retro style, but not that far in or up as his?

A bit more like this Album Moonstone than a traditional Fish. But that widepoint is still farther forward.

Cool board, that tail does look pretty narrow. You may find it works best as a single, but nothing to lose, try a twin set up as well. Post pics and give a ride report when you’re done so we all learn something!

Go with fin boxes. You can try either set up.
