I’m considering staining my next pine board, are there any prolblems like bleading or the resin not adhering when glassing over the stain?
Thanks.

You will have problems with OIL BASED STAIN. ALCOHOL, or WATER BASED STAIN, will be most likely to work. Do a test to see if the stain will bleed into the resin.
That’s what I figured. Thanks Bill
Hey Rhino,
I was doing some research on staining balsa and some of the RC guys are using coffee, fabric dyes, & water colors. They soak them then wait for them to fully dry before lamination. I haven’t tried it but I would think it would look pretty neat.
Cheers,
Rio
Hi, been wondering about this myself.
I was thinking that it would be possible to do a sealer or cheater coat with pigmented epoxy resin, like a foam stain the wood would suck up the resin and the pigment and could be glassed as normal.
I’ll be getting some epoxy colour paste for me next board so will do some experiments on scrap material and post the results.
Keep us up dated on the results you have.
