Hello all,
I have a Fins Unlimited box in my 9’8" Woodin One Love in which I cannot move the fin all the way aft. It looks like there is a little nub or knobby protrusion on the inner deck side of the channel keeping me from going all the way aft. Has anyone had experience with this before? I’m thinking an offset file would knock this right down. I’ll add photos after I get the board back from the ding shop.

Can’t say I’ve had that exact experience but I wouldn’t hesitate to get out a file or a hack saw bade and cut that nub out. Fin boxes can be weird sometimes. One fin will fit one board fine and won’t fit another board with same type of box. I think they warp while being installed or something. I’ve spent hours over the years ‘fitting’ boxes and fins. Just go for it.
One single bit of advice on center fin boxes regardless of the manufacturer:
Always put a standard single in the box when you install it. This will keep the box
from warping in any direction. Sometimes they twist, sometimes they cave in.
As far as cleaning them up a small body file is a very good place to start.
If you have lumps inside the box a small super sharp wood chisel is very good tool
to cut them out clean.

READ #3, ABOVE, AGAIN. IT IS THE DEFINITIVE ANSWER.
FYI, the futures longboard boxes come with an orange plastic insert that pops out after glassing. Keeps the box internals straight while glassing.
All the best
Rich, thank you very much for the advice. As soon as it comes back from getting a couple of dings repaired, I’ll give the body file a shot.
John, Rich, Greg and Bill,
Thank you for the help. I will update when i get it knocked out.
