Has anyone ever compared Captain Fin Co. proprietary fin tabs vs. old FCS? I just bought some Captain Fin thrusters with the intention of sanding them to fit old FCS plugs. Anyone ever tried this? Price was right since theyre having a fire sale.

Ive never tried them. but back when they first came out i was working in a surf shop and the brand rep brought some in. pretty sure i remember him saying theyll work with fcs tabs.

I made a few calls and the consensus was yes to FCS2 as is, but needs basic modification of the trailing edge for the old FCS plugs. I cant find a close up shot of the base, but here are the instructions for the folks who havent seen their design.

A final update on this thread, I was able to use an old FCS fin as a template and score the two tabs of the Captain Fin. The excess was removed with a dremel cut off wheel. Just had to cut off the back 1/4" of each tab. Didnt worry about the depth as the new fins slide into the old FCS plugs perfectly. Thanks to all for the replies and im excited to try these old boards with some new fins!
