Central America surf trip

heya,

I’m looking for a travel partner for a weeks trip late spring/early summer. I’m thinking http://www.wavehunters.com/nicaragua/nicaragua.asp

but by no means set on a destination. I do want my surf handed to me on a silver platter, therefore the guided trip. But I am also trying to be reasonable on the cost.

If I had time a surf exploration and discovery adventure would be great, but I don’t.

talk to ya later,

Tim

one week or two weeks? I mgiht be able to do a week (my work is evil when it comes to employee time off, they just instituted if you have have more than 2 weeks vaca and call in sick / take time off, it draws from you vaca first before sick time sucks) since I have a 3week trip planned in the fall (family thing returning back to roots etc, chasing our ancestral tree. Unfortunately only place on the list is Philippines but thats fickle).

What do you have in mind? Tropical is good. Is it limited to the Americas? Or are thinking about other places like SA or Indo or Metawais etc . …

My friend went to Metawais, and had so much fun, he used a boat. The guided trip is a good idea.

Indo and the faraway places get pricey. I’m on a budget. The prices are more reasonable for the Americas. The airfare alone to SA is more than the trip I linked to.

Sorry I forgot out about the title (Learn to read dude!! lol)

Sweet . . … Costa Rica I’ve heard has epicness but due to popularity might not be good pricing, what other links / companies are you going thru, so I check it out.

says that

I found this off of wave hunters . . .

Nica and peru seem to have good deals,

so this is generally what the cash outlay would be:

Tour Prices:

Peak Season (April-September)

1 surfer: $1650.00 per surfer

2 or more surfers: $1550.00 per surfer

plus $850 round trip.

peru

Tour Cost: $895.00 per surfer

Group Discount (4-6 surfers): $795.00 per surfer

costa rica

800 - 1200 range

ecuador

2 Surfers: $1040/week + $150/extra night

galapagos is $$

2-3 persons: $1640.00 per person + $185/extra night

Don’t go to Costa!

Epic waves, but it’s soooo crowded…

You’ll end up surfing with the whole crew from your home town!

Or at least most of california!

Where it’s at is El Salvador or Nicaragua…

Nicaragua has amazing waves, but they are hard to find. I never reccommend tours, but for that country it actually would be best. no roads, lots of unchartered (surf-wise) coastline.

El Salvador… just go, thats all i’m gunna say.

I hate to be one of those contributing to the overcrowding of unknown spots, but the word is already out on these places.

I drove my van from Santa Cruz California to Panama and back, 12000 miles (20 000 k’s), 6 months, on the coast the whole way down.

Most epic trip ever, would highly recommend it.

Camped at the beach and ate Ceviche. Beer. Point breaks. coconuts.

went to El savador 5 years ago, oh baby

cheers Joe

Yep!

Zunzal is awesome, really long right hander when the swell is on.

And thats the fattest wave on that bit off the coast!

I wanna go back…

Kit

Wish I had a fish back then as it would have been a blast, used to like the barrel section on the inside.

cheers joe

Joe that second pic looks like it is right out of the window at the toutuga surf lodge…did you stay there?? And yes el salv was on fire this summer!

Hi Tand

That be the one, what a great place to stay. Daniel the caretaker couldn’t do enough for us. It cost my wife and me $200 for 2 weeks and then they gave us some money back. If anyone goes down there have a lookout for a red railed K bay longboard. I’d be stoked to see if it’s still going!

Funny enough found a wave that breaks really similar to zunzal just down the road here in england.

cheers joe

great memories, daniel and his wife were great the food was excellent too! I wont ever forget that trip!
