wtf?
The rest of your short poem should read… You want to get rich, you want to get laid,
The future's so bright, you've got to wear shades.
The real reason for my post is to bring this back to the forefront of the forum, and with the hope that the moderators will make this a sticky. The Cerritos experience is one of the most VALUABLE resources that a homebuilder or professional can be exposed to. There is REAL cutting edge stuff presented there. Y’all come!
Is there a website for this Cerritos College surfboard workshop?
I don’t know if there is a website, but if so, someone that does know will respond with the information.
Argh i hate living in the middle of no where at least if i was near the ocean year round i could find some local shapers to learn from but no. i wishi could come
While there is no special web site for the surfboard workshop, there is a site for the composites and plastics department. www.mfgskills.com. You can RSVP with either Terry or Karen, and they will also inform everyone on any upcoming events.
One of the things we talked about at our meeting last week was having a series of workshops. More of the in depth discussion on a given subject or two rather than trying to cover so much and skimming over much of the information.
Thanks!!!
Ken

Would this workshop be apt for a total newbie to shaping? Have never put planer to foam but am stoked on starting up.

I’m a newbie and I spoke to Terry who runs the program. All I’ve done is large and small repairs, and one skim board. I think it’s right for me so it’s probably right for you.
Look at Airframe’s list of topics for the April workshop. It’s primarily theory and fundamentals of design and materails. What better place for a newbie to start?
Maybe I’ll see you there.
Yo it’s On! Like Donkey Kong. Game set match. Like winansea hut thatch. SLots still available, register on the double. Avril 22. So see you!
Ok pardon my bad rhymes, not country music, leann rimes. Ack! Ok. Couple guys beatboxing out in the parking lot and I got in on it. They don’t care if good or not, fast or slow, just that you flow and take a chance.
So far the cerritos workshop is still accepting applicants. That’s all I have to say. And thanks for all for setting this up.
All…
This is just kinda an update on whats happening. I sent an e-mail to Rusty inviting him to lecture at the forum. As he has been out of the country, I haven’t received any word as yet. I met with Brad at Foam EZ today, and looked at his new facility. Brad will also be represented at the forum as a supplier of surfboard materials. Foam EZ ha a good supply of both PU and EPS blanks as well as RR epoxy and all the normal building supplies. Brad has been a great supporter of the forums, and I hope we all support him and Foam EZ.
I also met with Hank Johns who will also be at the forum, and Greg Loehr as well, if we can work out the schedules. One of Swaylocks own, Bill Thrailkill will speak about various fluid design, fin placement, along with his vast craftsmenship expertise with surfboard building. I am working on some others, and will update the outcome in a later post.
Mike Paler has also been invited to speak, and we look forward to his insight concerning the Swaylocks evolution and impact on the surfing culture and industry.
Thanks!!!
Ken

Let me know how to sign up. I am very interested.

Ken asked if I could come to the workshop this weekend to share some of my “insights”, even tried to bribe me with a blank. I have a problem, I am transportationly challenged. My electric bike won’t go that far and my Suziki samurai is just plain scary on the freeway. So if anyone in the san diego, ocean beach, area can give a grumpy old shaper a ride call me. 619 523 2268 Thanks ACE
