Channel Island Performer 2

Well I’m stoked I got a XMAS gift

certificate to the local board shop

to get a new longboard. Problem

is I’m stuck with what they carry

and I can’t cash in the gift cert.

So I’m looking at a Performer 2,

H4000 or a Robert August WIR

Those are my 3 choices for a 9’2

summer stick.

I’m looking for some reviews of the Performer 2

or the H4000 ad they cost a few hundred less.

I want a nice mushy summer longboard that turns

well and maybe spend some time on the nose…

Thanks!

Justin

sounds like the Robert August.

what else does this shop carry? and where are you located?

I’m up in Oregon,

There are very talented shapers up here

however they don’t work with any of them.

Other than pop outs Bing and Stewart are my other

choices but I’ve seen too many crumpled stewarts

and the bings are over a grand, nice sticks though.

i never liked merricks, so maybe i’m biased…but i’m very happy with my RA…although at this point, i’d probably shell out the $$$ for a bing.

As a former Santa Barbaran, I’ve had lots of Merricks over the years, but never a longboard. I too have noticed the much lower prices for Channel Island longboards in shops compared to others. I assume one reason for this is that they usually lack the fancy glossy finish that other shapers/glassers spend hours putting on the boards before sale.

I’ve owned a couple CI boards, right now I have a 6’6" fish, and its awesome, nice tints and gloss. Good mushy board for summer, but not a longboard. A guy I surf with has a RA and he uses it almost year round, he’s very pleased with it. Its a 9’6" i believe.
