Let me give a little background and see what your guys thoughts are regarding this board? I usually surf anywhere from Church to Cottons (with Middles, Lowers, Uppers, and Barbed Wire along that trestle). We usually go on base and park at Church, if it is good, we go out there, if it sucks we walk up to Lowers.
This poses an interesting problem, because a board used for Church is MUCh different than a board for Lowers. I love my twin or quad fish at Church, and I also have a Stretch F-4 Quad that is fun at Church as well, and one of my favorite boards right now. The problem is that at Lowers or uppers I don't really like Quads as much and I hate the way a quad rides backside (which I suck at anyway).
I have been taking my Lost SDII thruster out lately and LOVE that board for Uppers, and Lowers, but for Church, since the wave is a bit slower with less punch and OFTEN crowded with guys riding longboards, and fish, it isn't the best board out there. The nose is narrow and thin and it has a lot of rocker.
I have been looking at the Red Beauty thinking it would be the PERFECT board to take to both Church and Lower or Uppers. It is a tradtional thruster, but with more volume, less rocker (less rocker than even my fish have) and a beak nose (which I really like the volume in the nose for a slower wave like Church). I am thinking it could be the perfect combo of riding my SDII and my Stretch F-4 quad. Best of both worlds?
I should also clarify that I am in my late 30s and have not a real aggro vertical surfer and that is why Quads and Fish suit my style in a lot of ways and I like the speed. I also like thrusters ability to surfer backside and the ability to pivot/cut. I guess I am looking for something that has a bit of both.
I just picked up a used red beauty, but there is NO surf right now.
Thoughts?
