Scott.
Any dimensions? (thick, wide…) Thanks guys. Kye
im a goofy footer and i also find that on pointbreaks on my backhand that a single fin works a lot better than 3 fins. u dont have to surf right off the tail, i tend to move forward of the fins on my backhand for some reason. bad habit.
I don’t know if it’s because they are gofy foot or not.it could be as follows: on small days longboard it.On big days gun it.it’s those medium days that were sort of an issue.their shortboards(thrusters)were a bit too much work on not getting down the line as they wanted.solution seemed to be the stubbies a couple of us ride, but at least for one of them, sort of difficult to ride one backside.what they found with this C.I. single fin is that it provides ease of paddling, turns easy, yet has down the line trim and drive.Bottom line, especially for the older friend, they are now having a blast on those medium sized days, where before it was a bit of a struggle.hope that makes some sense.
Channel Islands Machado Single Fin Surfboard>>> Any information?>>> Kye I’ve got Single Fin Fever pretty bad right now, all thanks to the CI design. Garage sale single fins have been popular around here for awhile now and some other shapers have been making them, but all those boards seem slow and sluggy. The CI single Fin isn’t so much retro as it is a new vision of a single fin. The things go so good! They surf high on the wave and are easy to get up on a plane. The bottom concaves are Bonzerish, the thing swoops and carves and is generally a real kick in the pants to ride. Beautiful polished tint jobs I might add. They did it right, a real keeper.
Matt, that makes good sense to this goofy foot. I picked up a very beat CI single fin in around 1980 or 81 for like fifteen bucks. It was a 7’2" rp winger with the tri plane hull. The best tube ride I ever had (actually three tubes in one wave) was on that board at El Cap point. Kye, The measurements were something close to 12" nose 20" wide around 2" or 3" up from center and about a 13.5" tail. Rails were really boxy, but not thick. The thing was worked, but it still went like a bullet.

Any of you folks with a digital camera interested in posting some photos of yours? I’m curious, but don’t have anywhere to look at one.
