If you think a hull is “…a simple board…” you have never looked at one very closely or tried to shape one. They are deceptively simple…just like The Blues; three chords.
Nope, I am not LeeDD
Oh…and to my knowledge, there is no theory in The Blues. The great grandfathers had no clue what a pentatonic scale was. Although scholars might use theory to explain aspects of The Blues, the greats play from the heart, not the head.
Jesus Los Lee, that riff should have been laid down for the next chapter , well said amigo. That said, you get it or you DONT its no big, to each his own.

<<<I wasn’t referring to the intricities of the shape but the surfboards function.
I can’t imagine someone stealing a dog. Especially right out from underneath you. That must be one empy, evil soul.
I’m usually there with him, but now I’ll think twice about the stroll around the corner to the glass shop. Thanks for the heads up.
Nice analogies and desriptions from the hull riders.
The great thing about surfboards right now is the amount of designs available and the open mindedness of most people out there. They all do what they do.
Ride each board like it’s suppossed the be ridden, push the envelope, and gain something from it.
I like to ride pretty short boards, so mine is a 6’2". I think this may actually be a little long for me.
It has plenty of speed and carry for such a short and bladed out shape. I kept the outline a round tail to keep it a little more neutral through the transitions with such a low tail rocker.
The outline and rocker are all drive on these designs. The hull shape and rail line compliment and neutralize these extremes to alllow them to surf as they do.
The one in the picture is 6’2" 15 3/4" 21.5" 17 1/4" 2 3/4".
The dog was tied in the shop door just like the photo of Cowboy. That’s got to be close to the lowest of the low. Heart breaking.
What the hell???
That’s pretty random. Is it possible the dog got loose?
-Sorry to get off topic with this, but the photo of Cowboy really struck a chord.
No. The dog had a harness on, attached to a leash. Harness was empty, leash still attached to tie out, Area disrupted. The dog would never run away, not at all in his nature. A cold hearted rip off.
func·tion /ˈfʌŋkʃən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[fuhngk-shuhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1.
the kind of action or activity proper to a person, thing, or institution; the purpose for which something is designed or exists; role.
The displacement hull has specific board characteristics and performs a specific function or action (get into trip, maximize wave energy underneath in the curl and M-O-V-E,. I have always been under the impression that it was created to closely match Greenough’s Spoon and basically translate that into a stand up model. (if I’m wrong please correct me)
I made a trad fish, lots of glass/resin, just enough rocker to do the job…after years of slideing thusters it was a revelation to surf something that needs surfing.
And its crap yerself fast and it has its glareing faults.
So,its been good fun and ive started shapeing a hull.
The Carlin thing was really funny. Lets see…in addition to the above.

I little heavy on the harmonica end, but that’s what I listen to and try to play. The blues metaphor makes me think I need one of these boards. Even if I am a white guy and a kook. Mike
