Choosing the perfect shortboard for quick turns, late take-off’s and good enough lift for a 6’4 195 pounds ? any help how to go about choice shaper (I would like a very good shaper) and surfboard desing…?
You could try a Beatty Rocket Fish. I still have a 6’4"x21x3 Plenty of float very quick. (Iam 200lbs) www.beattyproducts.com Steve http://www.beattyproducts.com

Merlin, I’m 6’5" and 190 and use a wide range of boards depending upon the type of wave. I’ve also been in the shaping room while a wide range of top shapers have made my boards. Guys like Al Merrick, Rusty Preisendorfer, Ben Aipa, Gary Linden, Michael Barron…So, I’ve tried a few differnet approaches. To me late takeoffs and quick turns mean sucking reef breaks. I’ve typically ridden 6’8" round pin fun guns for those types of waves. But, last year I got a McCrystal Bonzer that works insane at sucking Horse Shoe and that type of wave. The board has a very different rail rocker and does not preform as well in say Trestles type surf. But, when the power is there the thing is incredible.
