…i saw a very nice three stringer chris garrett board the other day
[unfortunately , no camera with me at the time , though]
it was 16 x 8’ x 21 x 15 x 2 7/8"
a rounded square
thruster rocker
set up with a 10" back fin box
and fcs side plugs
wooden tail block
a VERY nice , curvy board
the guy who owned it was from the south coast [here ]
…it made me want to make an 8’er , seeing that board …
cheers
ben
p.s. - it was poyurethane and polyester , glassed with volan . for a 12 year old board , it was immaculate [the previous [queensland] owner had , apparently “'had it on his wall for ten years” !!
Hi there Chipper,
Have you tried going here to see if it is on the website - http://www.chrisgarrettshapes.com.au/chris_garrett_poto_album1.html
Description sounds good, would be good to see a photo if there is one on his website.
Here’s another Garrett shape to keep everyone stoked
Dims: 6’4" x 19" x 2.5"

Now I don’t no why, maybe golden section, but there is something really very ascetically pleasing about that board, can’t put my finger on it but I really really love the shape of that boards that board.
Is it the light in the photo or has that board got a hard down rail in the back 2 thirds?
This was my favoraties from the link:
Really nice boards, thnks for bringing this guy to my attension, I’m really stoked right now :))
Yes, I’d like more pics of that board but you are correct his boards are aesthetically very nice to the eye.
-
Veneers are hand chosen
-
As far as I can tell, veneers must be taken as consequetive slices as there is a symetry in the grain on both halves of the board
-
The rail line is simply a shadow… rails are similar to a normal shortboard

I’ve recently had the pleasure of meeting Chris. He’s an unassuming guy but deadly serious about his craft.
His “Clients” are are of the most fussy kind and he puts out a product that passes the hardest scrutiny.
Recently changing factories, his old one on the road to Burleigh was a landmark and the bulldozers removed a bit of Gold Coast Industry history.
I wish him every success…
Speedy
Hi Speedy,
Yes, I’ve met him too… had the pleasure of spending about 2 hours chatting to him about his cedar boards - truly inspiring and beautiful boards.
He was funny when he got started about guys that don’t treat their cedar boards with respect
