Clark Foam Hitachi

Hey guys I picked up this planer from a buddy of mine. I have been fooling around with it. I just did this handle relocation on it, it feels better to me this way. Anyway I have 2 questions.

  1. is there an exhaust tube that fits this particular planer? I’m not seeing ant screw holes to attach one. Thats not saying one couldn’t be attached I guess.

  2. how does the front knob come off? is it threaded? I didn’t want to twist too much and break it. Kinda looks like that small knob is a pin holding it in maybe. just not sure. it feels like it needs grease in there. Its not smooth at all

ANY help is appreciated

SHOULD SHOW 3 PICS BELOW

I think this is the part your looking for

And as for the knob:

for what its worth here a a picture of the ‘newer’ clark foam depth adjustment. i had one of the older style ones like you show at one time but i dont remember how they came apart. i think it will unscrew? but you may have to take the pin out first since the pin might knock against the planer body when you try to unscrew? but i dont think that the pin actually holds the knob on…i could be wrong…

Hey! I’m going crazy looking for one of those. can they still be obtained?

Not sure how to access it, swaylocks won’t even let me log on

I’m referring to the depth adjustment knob, I’ve searched on eBay but I can’t find it🤷‍♂️

It looks like replying to emails posts on the message board now even though I can’t login in the site…interesting…there is no depth adjustment knob you can buy, all the stuff guys have done on here are diy jobs piecing together different components. Gears from starter motors, bike coaster brakes, and plumbing valves are some of the ways people have built them.

ok thanks!, I’m looking for it for aesthetic reasons, my idea was to leave it as close as possible to the clarkfoam modification, I’ll keep looking and if not I’ll have to invent something!!

If you just want a knob, check McMaster Carr
