Clark foam is over!!

…we only have about 65 blanks left. I dont know what we are going to do.

Raise your price!!!

Thank God for the State of California and Orange County…In one month there will be four container ships in LA harbor filled with Chinese and Taiwanese blanks at twice the price and half the quality of Clark’s.

Wall Street is saying Swaylocks is poised for an unprecedented boom in readership. Maybe Mike will give us all a friends and family discount on his IPO.

ANOTHER good reason not to live in America

wow… um… did anyone stock up on blanks?

I hate to say I told you so but … I told you so. Clark has been skating on thin ice for over a decade. Gordon himself said just about 10 years ago that the EPA would review his case in 10 years and at that time all bets were off. Well…

FL is prepared. TX is prepared. The NW and the NE are in good shape. CA and HI are screwed. I wonder how Clyde Beatty feels right now. Wonder how Geoff Rache and Stretch feel. Guys in FL are looking at increased profits and the possibility that custom boards will be worth lots of money. The kind of money they should be worth.

Finally the domestic surfboard industry gets a chance to make a real statement to the world about production of quality product and getting paid what their worth. They get to make a statement about their own survival. About their ability as craftsmen.

Monopolies are a detriment to business even when they seem to be taking care of you.

I’ve always wondered when this day would come. So many things running through my mind …

2’ X 3’ X 12’…

That’s it John. Make the Chinese obsilite before they know what hits em.

This is a sad loss… I hope they can re-open somewhere where EPA isnt breathing down their necks…

also, whats going to happen to all their equipment and tools and current stock? if anyone has info on when/how they are selling off what they have left, please post…

also… for all those hurt by the loss of PU blanks… try the switch over to epoxy…

good EPS blank manufacturer…

I can’t help but think about all the smaller shapers - Gregg Hunt comes to mind, among others - who turn out fantastic products but probably don’t have several months’ blank inventory. Probably have taken deposits on boards and won’t be able to complete them all.

As dedicated as I am to EPS & epoxy, I’m realizing there’s going to be a lot of negative fallout as well. I talked to Surfore a little bit ago, and he said he felt like he heard someone died. Now that its sinking in, that’s not far off.

It won’t be a bad thing, long term. I agree with Greg completely about the materials. But short term, I can mourn the end of an era that was part of my surfing life from the beginning (well, until about a year ago).

Ok. Now then, Hey John, wanna sell any blanks?

Hey Airframe!

better get working double time…stop slacking and churn out those eps blanks quick!!!

-does this mean with the eventual increase in demand for eps…prices for eps could go down?

Rio

I second the motion, anyone have a copy of that FAX???

Wow.

if only racism was over …

THAT would be something to REALLY celebrate !

so this is when we should all start investing in s-foam and other eps companies right?

let me just throw this out there…

there is/are going to be a lot of shady people who are going to take advantage of this situation. and, there are several foam companies overseas - from the usa - that make good product.

i am saddened to hear of clark’s problems, whatever that’s worth, but this is s good opportunity for you guys to set up the next generation of businesses. alternative materials, tech, etc. the 3rd world will always supply the contraband, you guys have the opportunity now to really shine.

a healthy, and heartfelt good luck to everyone,

Clark foam is NOT answering the phone here on Oahu, Fiberglass Hawaii confirmed Clark shut down by EPA… what? didn’t they have a septic system for the toilet???

New eps tech soon

I’d put money Greg L is happy. Verification of what he has been preachin and teachin’ EPS is king?

Now the dinosaurs have died its time for mammals to take over?

But Grubby Clark built an empire, controlled the surf industry and all shapers and glassers. Only to be brought down by the EPA and his local city? That’s like one small team of warriors and a plague bringing down the vast empire with legions of troops and cannon etc . . . like civilizations . … and that which brought him down he could have easily countered (cleaned up his factory to EPA standards, paid off the city officials in the right way, ensured he owned the land and had permits galore)?

Or maybe Clark knew this outcome, he was just milking it as much as possible. maybe he has a new company Kralc Moaf that is going into EPS production. Maybe the new eps tech soon by Greg L. is Grubby in his epoxy and EPS factory. Maybe Greg L has been involved and this is his and Berts new amazing things that is to happen.

C’mon it sounds too easy that EPA took down the mighty Clark Foam? Are the aussie Eskimo foam guys into this?

But this could be a great rumor since there are no offical faxs nothing real outside of hearsay. I’m going to call mitches tomorrow and see if they can verify what someone posted here about mitches.

Now how about that fax. . . need to see that. until then its just rumors.

This afternoon i hastily called Bashams, foam ez, mitches solana beach and windnsea surfbaords( walker). They all seconded what Kirk said. I am scared and have a cold feeling creeping over my body. Darren
