hello, i decided to go back to handshaping, i pulled my trusty skil out of the basement and thinking about setting up a vacuum attachment, clark used to have a wicked one that when you press the trigger the vacuum started…
any info on getting one or make one would be nice…
I use a ridgid vacuum with the bottom cut off the base and wedged into a steel trash can, Wedged and glued in. Its awesomeid love it if there was a way to but a bag in there, but its easy nonetheless. New bases are like 20.00 from Depot but they are a special order
You can purchase a special twin plug in which you plug your planer and the vacuum cleaner. Starting the planer also starts the vacuum (with a short delay) and switching it off also switches the vacuum off (with the same short delay).
wow a twin plug… wonder where to get that, home depot doesnt have it here… will keep looking!
thanks guys!
balsa, sur ton skil, je me demandais si la “belt” touche l’armature sur la grosse roue dente. je send beaucoup de chaleur dans le belt cover. just wondering , my 2 skil are like that , seem like i am loosing horse power due to friction.
ill post another post, maybe pete can answer that one…
"current sensor switch'' with a variable delay is what you're looking for if you want to build your own.
I think someone is offering a ''re-issue'' of the complete Clark system, it's truly a great design with the trap-door table that puts the waste right in the bag. Hopefully somebody will have more specific info on that.
Shop vac in corner of room > hose up & attached to 2" pvc pipe clamped to the ceiling & running over my racks with a pvc elbow pointing down > clark slinky hose > attached to planer. strip some speaker wire run it through the pipe & helpwith staic electrcity zap
shape & sand 2 boards before you have empty. highly recommend the http://www.cleanstream.com/ filter! home depot has it, about $35, clean it out after every board & it still looks new over a year later
Woodcraft.com has the iVac automated vacuum switch for $44.99. Get on their mailing list. Sometimes they have specials and they often offer free shipping.
For the hose, go to HD and look at the section for pumps and stuff. They sell a 25’ sump pump hose for about $10. It works pretty good with a shop vac.
