If you’re going to ask that question here, then post the pictures here

Here are top and bottom and fin.

This board is 9’ x 21" All the dings are filled/watertight. There is no number on it, but I believe it is circa 1963 as it has the early logo from when Yater had his shop in Summerland.

That logo was used intermittently for a number of years. The fin makes me think it’s a little newer, possibly 64-65.

Does anyone know when Rennie Yater started numbering his boards?

I’ll give you 20 bucks for it. Mike

Let me think about that!

NOTE: It Sold for a lot more than that…

Looks just like the one advertised as stolen on Craig’s list same year, etc.

Matt, you should clarify that as this board looks similar to the stolen Yater on CL not " Looks just like the one advertised as stolen on Craig’s list same year,etc."https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/spo/6020707967.html

To whom it may concern : this is NOT the stolen board posted on Craigslist… this is a 9’ board that was a 9’7". No one cut this board down.

If not cut down, how did it get from 9’7" to 9’? Does not look cut down…

Long ago I had a 9’8" spoon I got free from a friend’s ivy patch. Very sun browned, some delams, cracked fin, pretty bit twist warped into it down the length. What the heck, a freebie. Invested in a long box and “big Liddle” flex fin, some resin and microballoons. Turned out to be one of my all time favorite small wave boards. It did everything and anything I wanted it to quite easily and at same time felt a bit like cruising in a huge luxury automobile, just point and go whenever you wanted to. I was constantly amazed at how well it turned from front 1/3 of board! I always regreted using it as partial trade for another

Hah I meant this board that I posted is a 9’ board and the craigslist stolen board is a 9’7… so this is definitely not that board, because as you see it was not cut down. it has always been 9’ !!!

I do like and agree with your description of how these boards ride - there is something special about them.

Hopefully someone on here is interested to pick this one up and ride it!

DrStrange is talking about a Yater Spoon, which is a very different beast from the board you have.
I have an 8’ Spoon. It’s a gem.

Yes, sorry, wasn’t clear enough in my post. Just meant it as a tribute to the Yaters in general though truth is, that spoon is the only one I actually ever had under my feet.

SOLD - thanks for your input and interest!

Hey Sammy I meant the old Yaters in general - have never had a board of his that didn’t work. Will post another one soon!
