Classic Foam/Volan vs. Super green/6 oz layers

Hope some Oldtimers/Journeymen can help me out on this. Looking for weight and feel of a classic noserider. Should I wait for a custom order 10’ 7" H ( Rich Harbour Design) in classic foam or just go Super Green? As well, I have never tried or do not have extra time to do laps with Volan(someday). What kind of layup should I do. 2 six oz. on bottom and 3 on deck or something like that? 8 oz? Thanks in advance…

Going from green to classic will not be a dramatic change in weight, but you will get a real difference in strength. My 4 year old nose rider is classic with 4 oz. all the way around, if I had done 6 oz. on the bottom it would still be in good shape, wait for the classic

Thanks Jim…so one 6 on bottom and two on deck? Greg

You will get a much stronger board with the Classic and 6 oz. I am seeing a lot of the younger guys going for overly retro, double 10 oz. on regular weight foam, they do nose ride on small waves, but become bouncy in choppy condidtions

I find classic foam with 8oz volan and 4 or 6oz deck with an 8oz bottom to be a great weight for nose riders. I find using green or blue foam with volan tends to de-laminate due to the softness of the foam . The volan is stiff and want’s to pull away from the dented area’s.
