For years I have been cleaning my squeegees but letting the epoxy dry and then just breaking it of however I do seam to waste a lot of time now doing this and you still sometimes get the odd but you miss flake off. I watched a vid the other day of some one glassing with epoxy and they had a electric mixer that the used and just poped it into a bucket of something after to clean it. I know you can use viniger for cleaning stuff and it work ok but just wondering If maybe there is something better. What ever the guy had in the video must have been out with going into the epoxy before he used it. I would be nice if I could just throw used squeegees into something to let them soak and then just give the a while of after, maybe in just dreaming?
Like paint thinner, scetone, nail polish remover, gasoline, mineral spirits…these are what you are missing.
No.
Do NOT use acetone anywhere near epoxy.
Do a search for epoxy sensitivity.
Cheap white vinegar from the grocery store.
i use denatured alcohol
Really this works?, I guess it makes sense. As it can be used to thin epoxy out a bit.
I just used up the last of my acetone with the last batch, I wont be buying anymore,
I will be using vinegar, but alcholol works as well?
Perhaps it could be good as a second wash after the vinegar? Like a last clean off.
A final clean after vinegar. Best bet is to buy squeegees and gloves by the box or case and toss them after use.
Thanks mate, I get gloves in packs of 100, but I have three squeegies at the moment, onen big flexy rubber on thats awesome and two thinner harder ones, I try to use them a few tries before chucking them.
Gunna stay right away from acetone from now on.
Funny, the guys I know that make PU boards use it so much and just constantly have their hands in it…
Acetone is NASTY stuff.
I like the cheap yellow squeegees from TAP plastics.
I usually use them a couple times and then trash them.
I use the 3m brown bondo ones they seam to last way longer than the yellow ones I got but I have to order them from the USA to the uk so like to make them last plus I hate chucking plastics away any more than I have to. I will try having two buckets one of viniger and one of d.n.a
I mix distilled white vinegar with some 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol in the 1 liter rubbing alcohol bottle, about 50/50 ratio.
I loosen the cap, squeeze it on a napkin and clean the tools, using multiple napkins,
Sometimes i finish off the tools with straight rubbing alcohol.
