clear bottom lap showing after hotcoat ( PHOTOS ADDED)

hey im having an issue with the clear lap showing “cloudy” after hotcoat.  i will explain…

I laminate the bottom. come back next day and grind the laps. then laminate the top and hot coat.  after the board is done it shows where Where the lap was ground. it looks “cloudy”  It only shows in certian light or different angles when looking at the board but it is very frusturating.

Any suggesgion.  Smashing glass? Grinding too far?   so many variables but thought it was worth a shot…

Also herd that styrene when dryed can cause glass to go cloudy?

In the photos the laps are at the bottom.   it was hard to get the right angle but i think everyone will be able to see it.

Thanks

Provide pictures so we can make a proper assessment.

When I’ve used sandpaper to get the top lap down, if my paper gets clogged and I keep sanding it will leave the smears I think your talking about. What are you using to grind your laps? When I lam the bottom I just push the lap down flush with the foam with the other end of my stir stick. Other side I use 60 grit on a block and change it when it clogs up.

Are you hot coating over your bottom lap? Are you using a 50 grit hard back disk? If not you should try it it makes a world of difference.
