Hey Paul,
How about coming to Brooklyn and giving a build your own board workshop?
I have a friend who runs an artist studio who I know would be way into it.
As would I.

I am a hobby builder so it’s hardly really relevant for me but I would imagine the following (I know not very “soulful” but from a business perspective…)
Sourcing materials with more builders to get better products and prices (especially in places were things are hard to get like europe for wood and resin)
Sharing infrastructure ( I currently share a workshop with another builder)
Sharing a label or brand for marketing purposes (like the compsand crew is doing)
Setting up sales channels with reputable core retailers for the discerning custom buyer
Collabaration for group insurance policies and or legal/tax services
Setting standards for products and services so products are inter-servicable (like the compsanders want, they can all pretty much repair each other’s boards as they have similar base-lines for construction), when combined with a brand you can make a transparent price and service structure for the client and retailer.
Sponsorship of competitive riders, it may be prohibitive for a small producer but if different producers can agree on the deal this may prove an effective way of communicating to the market. (I think this would be very applicable to the HWS and Compsand crews)
Organizing events, this happens with the FishFry crew and is very effective form of marketing and from what I gather a heap of fun!
ok…
enough from me… I don’t sell boards… I just make em for fun…

What - build some crazy out there boards.
Why - Because it’d be a whole lot of fun ( although I know he’d have the ideas and I’d end up cleaning up.)
Because we scattered his ashes on the sea 11 years ago this month and I miss him.
