Just poking around the CI website and noticed they now have color changing boards.
I assume it’s just the paint. Anyone have any insight on how they do it. Just curious.

Never seen one and don’t know how they work, but I heard they change color like the old mood rings.
Howzit FlatSpell, It is probably chamelon paint. As you move past it it changes colors, been around for a while and you can buy it from airbrush catalogs or from automotive paint suppliers. Thought about trying it on boards a few times but wasn't sure how it would work after applying resin and fiberglass over it. But it sounds like it works if they are doing it. They make some that can change several different colors.Aloha,Kokua
seen them around. all a bit gimicky for my tastes. but hey, if they come out with a scratch & sniff model i’m on it ! :-]
One company you can get it from is ALSACorp.

how about a pussy flavoured one?
Kokua, its not chameleon if it is what i think it is that you are talking about. It is like those really old color changing tshirts. but i am very drunk right now so ignore this.
Rider is right. This “new” technology seems to be the same from the 80’s t-shirts.
Hey Silly thats rude!
How about optic fibres woven into the glass for that “Matrix” look, or better still, a full board LED screen for video board graphics!

and window to the the reef below
naaaahhh!
ill just have the pussy flavoured scratch and sniff thanks
Howzit rider, Airbrush companies have been selling color changing paint for a few years now and they call it chameleon paint. Get an air brush catalog and look in the paint section. It might have another name from other types of applications. I have seen it on motorcycle paint jobs and as the bike moves past you the color changes. Go to bearair.com and request a catalog. I checked out the website in one of the posts and even though they called it by another name there was a link that had chameleon in it. This paint is not the same as the paint that changes color from heat like Kelly has.Aloha,Kokua
this is not chamelion paint…this is heat sensitive paint that is one color when its warm and another color when its cold…i think the hot and cold colors are on opposite sides of the color spectum…
same stuff in baby bottles that change colors when the milks warm…
i agree, not chameleon paint. That’s why i asked how they do it, if anyone knows. It does seem like the old t-shirts, but how would you apply it to boards? Just curious.
Heat sensitive paint. http://alsacorp.com/…eclipse_prodinfo.htm

ding ding ding!
i was hoping someone would get to it before i did…alsa is the exact stuff CI is using for this massve gimmick…anyone see what they charge for the stuff on the site!!!
Howzit skamatt, At first I didn’t check the website and was just under the impression they meant colors other than black and white and I said in the last post it wasn’t the same as what Kelly had. Maybe it’s time for some one to try using chameleon paint on a board. I wouldn’t think to many surfers would be into a black and white board, give me some real colors.Aloha,Kokua
chameleon paint would be awesome, but would it work under the fiber glass?
hmm , ILL try it!..er maybe!!
im sure my dad can get me some chamelian paint as he owns a auto body/paint shop…ill let you all know in this thread if i do it,
