Is there such a thing?! Would be great to have somewhere people could come together and exchange skills and ideas, and for people that aren’t fortunate enough to have the space/materials to come and shape their own board. How does it work in the US, do you pay a flat rate to use the space, and that covers all materials, or do you provide materials usually? Why let our American counterparts have all the fun?! I am lucky enough to have a small workshop on the south coast (Dorset) would be more than happy to host people if they wanted to come and use the facilities. What are peoples thoughts?
I’m always willing to share, however…if you share your space, and it looks like a nice one, you must be aware that not all people work the same. I work very neat and methodical. I take care of my stuff and it lasts a long time. My concerns would be that someone would work just the opposite, and mess things up, leave things dirty, drop stuff. I have lent certain people tools and they just don’t come back the same. I don’t know how it is in the UK, but in the USA a lot of people have liability concerns. Sometimes you try to generous and it bites you in the end. Sometimes it’s very rewarding.
The sharing economy is a bit of trend now and a thing so people have already trodden the path of putting things in place for handling inventory and checking.
I for one would like to use your space as i’m also in Dorset. Though it would be tons easier in Newquay I’m sure we can pick up more members in the line up at Bournemouth this winter. I’m not sure how long I’m going to be here but I’m’ still interested.
