Completed Build

A couple of hours this morning with the sander and polisher and this board is done and ready for tomorrow's little swell.  6'7" x 22 1/4 x 16" nose x 17" tail x 3" thick.  Concave bottom with V in the diamond tail.  This was my first attempt at a resin tint and pin lines.  This board is just to be a small wave groveler.  I have enough resin on hand to do one more board or I may do some experimenting with moulding copies of fins.

well done. red is a hard color to get right and you pulled it off. abstract pins add a nice touch too

dude ,,, that is so sweet!

nice work

Love it! Have fun tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll get a clean waist high bump out of this little system by the tomorrow afternoon. I just checked it and it’s looking maybe knee high.

Howzit mako, What happened to all the snow, I thought you guys were having a blizzard up there. Aloha,Kokua

We got mostly rain here in the southern part of the state.

Nice job. I like the abbreviated pinlines.

really nice work. hope you had some fun on it yday. perfect angle up north - small but clean, long lines.

I finally got to ride the new board today.  It was incredible!!!  Probably the best cold water shortboard session I've eve had.

Condions were chest high, offshore, lined up but a little soft.  Water and air just a little below 40*.

This board made me realize that I have probably wasted the past 15 years riding boards that were all wrong for the gutless surf we have here on the East Coast 90% of the time.  This board is considerably wider, and considerably thicker that what I normally ride.  It also has a much flatter rocker than any board I have had since the 1980s.  This board generates and carries speed like no other board I have ever ridden.  It also accellerates out of a cutback better than any other board I have ridden.  The board paddles and catches waves much better than my regular boards.  In today's conditions I would have struggled on any of my other shortboards or I would have had to ride a log.  I was flying thru soft sections where I would have been bogging down on any of my other boards.

If anybody out there doesn't have something like this in their quiver I'd strongly recommend you get one or build it.  This board increases the fun factor of riding small waves 1000% and it sure beats riding a log.

A few shots to compare the new board to the typical shortboards I've been riding for almost 30 years.  The shortboards in these pictures will now probably only be ridden in head high or bigger surf.
