should a fish style board with two keel fins have double concave between fins
Mine hasn’t and it still is the fasted board I’ve ever surfed on.
Stuart, I’ve seen and had a chance to study an old Frye with keel fins. The fin area was pretty flat. Not even much vee in the bottom. The keel fins were placed parallel and straight-no toe, no cant. -Rick
…Keep the bottom flat,no vee no concave, concave tends to hold the design back.Herb
Parallel keel fins - how far from rail, how far up from tail?
OJ, the keel fins on the board I had were 9 1/4" x 4 3/4" @ 6 3/4" up from tail, 6" from the stringer, about 1 1/2" from rail. The tail was 15" wide 6" up from the tail. -Rick
Thank you Rick. O.J. NM
I was going to post a picture of the Frye Fish, but I don’t know how to reduce the size of the file. Swaylock recommends keeping the file size to 90kb. The picture file I want to upload is around 160kb. Can somebody explain if there is a way to reduce the file size, in terms my resin fume soaked brain can understand, so that I may share this historic surfboard with all a ya’ll.
Rick: Would love to see your Frye picture. Try reposting your question to the board with a new title. The only reason I saw your post was because of the e-mail that Swaylocks sends to alert you of a response to your(my) last.
OJ, I’m working on it. -Rick
OK, OJ, check resource #519.
