concave or belly on alaia's nose

hey,

I’m about to shape my second alaia.

I did the first one with belly under the nose. I thought that leaving more material (and thus flotation) would help avoid digging the nose, besides adding a bit of extra paddling power.

I’m tempted now in taking the single concave all the way up to the nose, say, 3 inches from the tip.

what should I expect in therms of preformance?

is it possible that adding concave at the nose of an alaia would create a similar effect of lift that a spoon concave does on a noserider ?

…you are dealing with a primitive design so expect basic performance.

I think that you will not obtain the same effect that on a modern longer rockered finned board

Also is not totally stablished that these spoons nose concaves really work.

In a nose rider the last 1/3 rocker and the fin are more important.

What sort of length ?

Wood Alaia or foam Alaia ?

Hey,

Reverb, based on what I’ve read, I fully understand what you are talking about.

But just theoretically, because I 've never made a noserider, and I surf mostly short boards.

Thats why I wanted some solid and experienced info.

Thanks!

Surffoils,

It is made out of agave wood. 6.4 x 18

Oops…

It is sidewise for some reason
