Confessions of a Kook

Day two of my browsing in Swaylocks. Very pleased so far. I have to give a shout out to KC I found Swaylocks on his blog Confessions of a Novice Shaper http://noviceshaper.blogspot.com/ .

Wanted to just give a shout out and say that as soon as the funds come my way, Greenlight Surf Supply and I are going to be married at the hip. Still haven’t decided on the board I want to build. Im a 30 year old big guy beginner and a kook. So ideas and suggestions welcome.

Thanks for listening and hope to receive feedback on my shaping journeys.

By the way, if your board check out some reading... http://confessionsofakook.blogspot.com

Now why does that have such a familiar ring to it? (welcome to Swaylocks!)

Thanks huckleberry, nice to know someone replyed to my post.

Kook, I’d just get a used board and have fun for a while. Then once you understand all the parts of a board and how they interact, you can jump in and make boards. I rather surf than do just about anything. It doesn’t even have to be on a surfboard, it can be bodysurfing, or riding a belly board, a canoe, or even a rowboat. Something about sliding along the ocean on a wave that I just can’t get over.

Making a boards means time out of the water, and once you start making boards, you may not be able to stop. I’ve spent countless hours thinking about board design and how I want to try subtle changes for various reasons. It’s a bad addiction, probably worse than heroin.

Hey kook,welcome to sways,cool blog!

in my mid fifties. been a kook for all of it. i don’t mind because i’m having a whole lot of fun, not caring if i’m a star or a kook.it’s about the feeling, not the look…

I agree Matt. Its always been more than a look or a feeling to me. Its about something stronger. I cant seam to figure out what "it" is but I know its more than a look and feeling. Thanks for sharing.

Kook, You have to get The Book titled Kook by Peter Heller.  It is an inspiring read for all us Kooks

Had it in my hand the other day at the bookstore. Im thinking I made a mistake by not purchasing it. However I do have an excuse, my kids were distracting me so I may not have been in my "book buying mind". Will defentily pick it up though! Thanks.

Another book on surfing that I'm reading is West of Jesus. So far a pretty intellenent book.
