confused in italy

I’m a 36 old surfer from Italy. Italy? Yeah, we’ve got some waves, but of course they’re no big deal. I started surfing 7 years ago, and I’m not a great surfer at all: I live in a big city far from the coast, I work, and we have humungus flat spells here. I can surf only in the weekends and holydays (maybe in France or abroad). Now, I feel really comfortable riding longboards: I can take off, do a decent bottom turn, cutback (not very smoothly), cross step and generally have fun. I’ve ridden shortboards in the past, but the problem was more of paddling ability and physical strenght than techinique. Somehow, the will to ride a a shortboard has never left me and, even if I’m happy with my logs, I need some advice. I’m 5’8" tall (or short?), and my weight is around 165 lbs. The waves in Italy tend to be small beachbreaks, but they can get steep from time to time (windswells). What shortboard shape would you suggest to a Mediterranean weekend warrior like me? How thick a shortboard can be without compromising a minimum of performance? I’m particulary attracted by Dave Parmenter’s Stubb Vectors (but no chance to have one here in Italy), I’ll have to go with local shapers. Thanks in advance to everybody! Mozzarella

I have a 7’ 2" stub vector and i’ts a great board! If you want i will send you all the measurments so you can take them to your shaper. Let me know, Scott. I’m a 36 old surfer from Italy. Italy? Scott, that would be very kind of you… if you could send the dimensions to this adress: I’d appreciate it very much Thanks Mozzarella

Andrea Bonasia??? I don’t know where but i’ve already hear your name before. Anyway, check out the 6’8’’ egg and the 7’0’'egg in the boards directory and tell me what do you think. I’m writing from spain, so we are pretty close! ciao!

Hola Nacho! Que sì, we met months ago on another website. Compliments for your eggs (oh my god, it reads like “huevos”… ooops). I was thinking about something a bit more back foot oriented, more like a proper shortboard actually. Maybe it’s only a case of the “pointy nose” syndrome, you know? I’ll be in Biarritz from august 5. Muchissimas gracias Mozzarella>>> Andrea Bonasia??? I don’t know where but i’ve already hear your name > before. Yes, we even sent a few e-mails between us. My eggs are riding beautifully (yes, it’s sounds pretty weird in spanish!!!) and i’m happy with the performance. Have you got any site with Parmenter’s boards. Just to take a look. Have you been to Cabo verde? How about Punta Preta? saludos
