cool rocker optical observation

Try this one at home…

Interesting thing happened today while making rocker visuals on a board Im shaping.

For years I’ve held the bottom of the board facing away while checking rocker (like on shaping 101 vid)…holding the board along its side, arms hanging down, slightly in front of me - trying to see the rocker curve, end of entry rocker, smoothness, that sort of thing…checking my work.

By chance, I did the same except this time the board’s bottom was facing me…what a difference! I could see things much easier this way. I tryed the other/former method and could not see what I was seeing with the new method…literally night and day difference…serendipitous…u learn every day.

I try to look at the board from as many angles as possible. What may look minor from one side looks like a bump from the other. Look at rocker nose to tail, tail to nose, profile and always checking from different angles how the entry flows into the center and how the center flows into the tail.
