See if that works… that’s interesting, that diamondback pattern on the 4GF… a friend of mine that has a neumatic, just got a 2nds 4gf… but still prefers his Neumatic… i checked it out… but not in the water… narrower, longer… a bit lighter. this one had canvas strips… not sure how good it is.

Thanks Roger- totally matastic!

Greenough with a camera on his back in those kinda waves!!! Insane…the older mats with the canvas strips do not provide as good of a non-slip surface as the the newer models.

The standard 4GF is an unbelievable mat. I’ve ridden it for the last 5 years in all kinds of surf from 1’-12’. It really turns on in good point surf 4’+ but performs also well in smaller stuff.

Paul Gross has done a lot of experimenting lately and has come up with a really good small wave design called the “Fatty” (so named by George Greenough who loves that new design and called it so because it’s more stocky, wider and thicker)

the ‘fatty" has the same performance level as the standard size mat even in small 1’-3’ surf…, I’ve surfed it for the last 3 months and really love it…

Stay tuned for the upcoming new 4th Gear Flyer web site…

Unfortunately clicking on the link doesn’t work.

While we are in the prone position has anyone in Australia had a ride on a Surfoplane lately (not when you were 5yrs old)?

Reason being I’m about to start using my dual purpose motorcycle to get to the beach and want something easy to carry for expeditions up the beach beyond Noosa.

I already have a carver rack which was on a scooter but don’t really want to put it on the bike as its much more awkward than on the scoot.

Thinking of options for short boards to ride prone. Not that crazy about a bodyboard. I’d like to have a paipo like board to ride prone. Even saw a woman riding a fibreglass one at my local point a while back but didn’t quiz her on from whence it came.
