Hey, Anyone ride a Cooperfish Hornet? What were your impressions? What kind of wave/conditions/break/surfer is this model best suited for? Thanks. Cool site here. I dig the design knowledge. Kepp it flowing. Hope I can contribute something useful someday. Thanks.
Here’s a Hornet in action… http://www.cooperfishsurfboards.com/robbiehornet2.MPG http://www.cooperfishsurfboards.com/robbiehornet2.MPG
Call Gene Cooper and he’ll tell you himself… he’s a really nice guy. THe Hornet is a complex board… there’s a subtle concave going way back followed by a slight belly and then pinched rails. I’ve got a 9’8" and love it. THe Pintail and large fin really hold in sketchier surf. ITs really stable but not a beach break board, more of a point break board. The quality is second to none.

The board trims very fast and despite having somewhat lower overall rocker, does not feel stiff. The combination of the round pin tail, large drivey fin and just the right rocker in the last couple feet make the board feel very good when turning from the tail. I mostly just surf point breaks, which the board is well suited for. I also recommend calling or emailing Gene Cooper, who’s a really nice guy.
what’s a good longboard design for beachbreak?
what’s a good longboard design for beachbreak? Gordon and Smith makes a board called the Peak Performer which would be good for beach break type surf.
