Correct way to Lam 30 inch wide board with 30 inch cloth?

I’m building a couple of SUPs. My deal on some 38-inch cloth didn’t work out. I have plenty of 30-inch. I know its been done, but what is the right way? How to keep a thin strip on the board when you wrap the rails? Many thanks.

(Yes, I did a search)

Lay it out on the bias, and do a double or triple lay up all at once. First layer straight down the middle, next two on the bias on the over hang.

on the bias? (sorry to be dim)

Like a big “X”?

Does that mean that one layer hangs over one half a bit more and the same on the other half?

Howzit deanbo, Do the over lap on the striger area, this will also strengthen the board. Over lap about 2" on both sides of the stringer which will give you a 4" wide over lap.Aloha,Kokua

Interesting, thanks for the heads up on that. I’m was going to use some S cloth on my next longboard but it’s only available in 24 inch wide. Now I can use it. So thanks again.

sorry this response is late Greg, yes like a big X.
