Crouching Tiger Hidden Carbon

Just some show off board porn. I built a board for the shop owner at one of my better accounts. I had some carbon to play with and wet bagged the deck. The build was a 1# core, 1/8" Bass Perimeters, and H80 rails. Wet bagged carbon deck patch then 4/4 bottom then 4/4 butterfly patch. Just under 6lbs with glass ons (I really like that weight). The peel ply had some wrinkles that showed, the cut needed a pin (that stuff sucks to cut huh?), and I basically hated the whole deck black. I like black, but this is going to south Florida and I didn’t really like the look. So I researched these archives and got a tip to get some acrylic enamel from Auto store. Did a basic tape out shake can graffiti. It looks pretty cool, check it…

great stuff! you never cease to impress me, drew.

I’d take that board to dinner and a movie  Nice work!

Sweet board Drew!

Didn’t you come up with a hotwire jig to cut your rails off for the high density rails? I’m about to jump into the mix going EPS with balsa rails. I had a 3x3x8’ piece of balsa laying around, so what the heck?

Yeah I did, it might be in the archives somewhere. It attaches to my hotwire bow, really a 2 in 1 tool. If you can’t find it in the archives I’m sure you can figure one out. Good luck and post some pics!!

My first hotwire experience wasn’t exactly first rate, so i think I’ll cut off the rails using a handsaw. I was just curious. I thought I remembered something you made. If this one looks presentable after my Dr. Frankenstein efforts, I’ll be sure and post some pics.
