**We use Eco-friendly EPS foam core, many brands have now switched to this including the likes of HS and Firewire (we can make PU upon request but prefer not to as it’s worse for the environment)**
What a crock of shit.
In a Landfill, PU foam breaks down in 20 years.
EPS breaks down in 100.
EPS is made with a known carcinagen. STYRENE.
That’s the** “S”** in EPS.
Who buys this crap?
As board builders it is also our job to educate the consumers.
Not fill their head with ECO-lies.
You guys had to get me going with the China thing!
Guy’s,
Not to get in the way of a good train wreck, but I don’t think Gary is selling boards, China made or not. Sounds like a college kid, looking for some beer money the easy way.
Re-read post #17, and check out the link - its pretty clear he’s selling boards made in china with other people’s shapes and hyped with questionable claims - basic bottom feeder mentality carried to its logical and unethical extreme.
The difficult part is to get a “critical mass” of people to use that site regularly. The only way to do that is by adding real value through your platform both to the backyarder and the professional. Just sharing files will never get you there.
But if you believe your algorithm can do that, good luck.
**Another Thailand and Chinese Shit Factory Run by an Australian. This guy or one of his associates started a thread some months ago. Does anyone remember? I'll try to find it.**
Yeah, it appears to me what they’re really up to is building and selling boards from files obtained for free, no credit or money to the actual designer of the boards, using cnc and cheap chinese sweatshop labor, and probably substandard materials, to undercut the market with low-cost boards.
I’m guessing the “free access to brd file library” is just a way to pack their archives with as many shape files as they can get for free, and the ‘algorithm’ for providing ‘ideal shape’ feedback is likely a marketing tool, i.e., we’ll pick your ideal shape (it will be one in their archives, of course), and then we’ll build it for cheaper than anyone else can. Some guys who probably never picked up a planer in their lives trying to leverage internet and some computer skills to make an easy buck off others’ hard earned shapes, because, ethics be damned, its probably legal.
Ooooohhhhhhh i bet you’re wishing you hadn’t started up this thread Gary?! Haaa, good enough for you, you cant expect to steal other folks hard earned templates & shapes?! Not without taking some heat! I recommend all on Sway’s that aren’t impressed with Gary to go and check out their facebook page (disrupt surfing) where we can all write a review on what we think of his boards, lies told etc! It’ll fu£k his star rating right up!
It takes so long to get any where near good at making surfboards and designing you can’t just give that information away for free.
Especially not so someone can fill a container up in Guang-ga-da-dang-dong and dump $350 boards in Bondi.
Like finding a surf break, scowering headlands, driving miles, motoring/sailing the globe, some secrets are best kept to your self.
15 years in still on my journey, I’d like to think I was getting somewhere (f@rK!!).
6’1’’ x 19 1/2’’ x 2 5/8’', one board Indo quiver, the guy asked for something ‘a bit retro’. Well I wasn’t around in the ‘retro’ era so I did my best, flat, forward outline, subtle beak, vee, double concave, spiral vee, thruster.
