Crystalization Question

Hello all,

I just recieved a board from a friend that I can tell is going to crystalize.

The paint was done in water-based acrylic but was done way to thick. I think the glass will still bond but am almost positive that the board is going to crystalize on me. MY question is if there is any way to prevent this before glassing(other than painting different in the first place). The airbrush is way to intense for me to try an mimic it on top of the hot coat, and I dont think I could match the color right. I was thinking maybe a cheater coat of lam resin shot off real slow brushed over the board might seal it so it wont crystalize on me. Any help you guys could give on this would be great. When I recieved the board I told the guy that the paint was put on to thick and that I was sure it would crystalize. He understood and said to go for it anyway, but if I can I would like to prevent this! Thanks once again!

Howzit Beas, Check out the thread on sealing acrylic paint befor glassing, I posted a tip that will prevent crystallization. Aloha, Kokua

Cool, thanks Kokua I found the thread you were speaking of. I will let you know how it comes out!

also put the board out in the strong sunlight for a hour or so each side. this will dry any trapped moisture in the paintwork which usually causes gassing/crystalization when the exothermic reactions are taking place.
