Custom Wood Longboard Charleston South Carolina

Great approach, and build!  Its nice to see something made from scratch; I bet the next one will be even better.  Bravo, and ride on…

100% identical to the construction method use by a certain loony from NZ. Right down to the fin shape. Right, “Steve”?

Thanks Ghettorat!

SammyA,

It’s a similar board.

Steve83…Have you ever been to karaoke night at the Upper Deck?

Can’t say I have…

Ever had a VIP night at Mad River?

I’m curious of the intent of your off topic questions. No doubt your trying to prove some point. SammyA I would appreciate all unthread topic related posts be sent in a private message. Hey I live in Savannah.

Hi Steve,

That’s pretty. Why did you decide on a wooden board and the construction techniques? Did Roy help you or send plans? Have you checked out Paul Jensen’s stuff? Why cedar and not balsa or paulonia? Just curious. Mike

Thanks Rooster! I decided on the build about a year ago, but it took me a while to research and study up for the build. Roy has been helpful in answering some build questions, but I did not buy a set of his plans for the board.  it is a parallel profile torsion box surfboard. I chose cedar because of cost and availability. 1 x 4 x8 boards can be purchased at lowes so it saved me the high shipping cost and high material cost of paulownia or balsa. I estimate around 220ish spent on wood for the build. I’ve never found a good local source for balsa or paulownia. There both kind of an exotic wood for South Carolina.

Oh, and I have checked out Paul Jensons work, of which I  a huge fan. I’ve built a HWS board in the past and wanted to try Roy’s method. I think it’s a interesting addition to the quiver.

Nice work. I’m sure Roy is happy that someone else tried his construction.method. One day I hope to do the same. Let us know how it surfs. BTW I once went to Bull Island. Hot and disgustingly humid. Saw alligators but they were too hot to get out of the pond. The mosquitoes made the most out of my visit though. Was flat too. I like S.C.

Thanks…I’ll post on test ride as soon as possible.
