Customs Ultimate East(C.U.E)

I am looking for information on C.U.E. surfboards. I have a 10’ board with a red wood stringer. I am ready to restore it and would really like to know a little history of the board. I think they shaped out of lavalette maybe? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some pics of the board. I am really having a hard time ginding the history of the board. When I was 16 I was going to school and saw it at the curb. I asked the owner if he was throwing it out he said he didnt want to but had no room to store it. He was so happy it was going to a young grom who would appreciate it. It has been 15 years since I got that board she rides great. I have since moved from Nj to Sc and would really like to restore this piece of NJ surf history to original form. This board is not for sale. I am not a collector or dealer. I ride all my boards I am curious of a value but again I have no intention of selling this bored. I appreciate all feed back on the history of the board and its shaper. Also aby suggestion on the restoration would be gteatly appteciated.

Jim Phillips or BalsaBill Yerkes would know the history on that one, you may have to wait 'til they check in here and see your post. I think those boards were mentioned on the Challenger East thread, which turned into a great reunion/history/wild times piece mostly about NJ in the 60s.

If you try the search function on here and poke around, you might be able to find some info on your own.

edit - here's the Challenger thread: http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1028954  Worth reading just for the hilarious stories.

I found that thread last night. It was incredible to read all the NJ surfo history. I had heard some of the names before it was really cool to here them reunite on that thread. It metions cue briefly and thats actually what prompted me to ask. I even sent balsa bill an email. I also foynd an article telling all thr same stories in I think a surfer mag article I ll try to find the link and post it. Sorry about thr spelling Im writing this on broke phone. Thanks for the response mike.
