I just finished shaping a 9'3”
pintail, but my regular polyester resin went bad so I had to purchase
UV laminating resin from a local shop. I searched the archives, but
came up empty handed on how to do a cutlap using UV resin. Do you
just add some MEKP to make it gel, cut it, then put it out in the
sun? I need to have a cutlap because it's going to have a orange
resin tint bottom. It's sun cure brand if that matters.
I do uv lam cut laps all the time
you can add mekp and let it gell and cut,if your comfy that way, then sun it
but
if your qwick with the blade , then just cure the bottom in the sun, then bring it in the shade and cool it down so it wont be as tacky
then flip the board and flash the rails in the sun , just a minute or so
then cool er down and cut the lap, FAST, before it gets too hard, (ask me how I know)
prep your racks for the flip with wax paper or whatever you perfer
Thanks a bunch, it’s been a year since I glassed a board so I think I’ll use the mekp method, but the other method sounds good too, I will try that after I get the feel for glassing again.
