good on you shalyn!
Hey Shalyn,
Yeah, my board isn’t as great as I would have liked it to be, but as a first, I can’t really complain. It looks like a surfboard, and that’s what counts. The artwork on yours is very cool, I’m not much of an artist and I’ve proven to be an awful airbrusher, so I’m doing a resin swirl on my board. I’m hoping to glass it this weekend.
I’ve been surfing since I was 12 too, I learned in South Carolina, and I go back there to surf all the time because it’s much warmer than up here. I love longboarding also, really digging the glide, especially since summer waves are too small for anything else. I can’t even tell your rails are uneven, but if you were to look at mine they’re pretty boxy. Although not as bad as Ben’s. Sorry, dude! I’d love to come to down to VA beach sometime, I’ve only been once and I didn’t have time to surf. It was also insanely flat that weekend. There’s a longboard contest up in Ocean City, MD, sometime in June I think, it looks really interesting. I’m part of the DC Surfrider chapter, and we’re putting together a team for it or something, I’m not sure.
Keep up the good work. We could use more girl shapers. I’ve heard Ashley Lloyd shapes her longboard model for Bing Surfboards. There was an article about girl shapers in the last issue of Surf Life for Women, but unfortunately it was 4 pages, and most of the article talked about what boards made by Rusty and Merrick for girls, and less about girl shapers. Which is a shame, because I’m sure there are a lot out there. I was less than impressed with the article, but Ashley Lloyd is cool in my book.

That board is nice. I have a teenage daughter too. My girl designs some of the art work for our surfboards and then gets mad at me when I have to modify the design to make it work with all the curved surfaces on a surfboard. We always work things out. She’s a good surfer too. We have a cool longboard project in the works right now. Board is shaped , Art design is complete ,sample foam piece is ready to air brush to see if we like the colors. She won’t let me do crazy resin work on her boards.
I’ve got too many projects going all at once!!!
Have fun.

ok! Well, you’ve got a photo, and the dimensions. Put that board in the resources section so it will be there for posterity!
looks good but just a warning if you shape a nose rider hard edges whil ehtey make the board easier to turn they make noseriding a bit harder.
