I sometimes pressure sensitive glue foot traction using the vacuum bag for ultimate adhesion.
It’s awesome especially around complex curves.
true that good one man, wanna so some skins to foam . the cork stuck very nicely to eps with contact but i need better glue. all the really strong contacts melt eps. mebe cork to poly or cork to xps using pressure sensitive?.
Have you tried the 3M 78? Made for use on polystyrene foam. I just got some in the mail on Friday, bought it from Amazon.com.
Plan to experiment with it on EPS and XPS to see what it might work well for.
The vac bagger is just a tool. If you have it available why not just use it? $1.50 worth of epoxy might solve your issues with spray eating the foam away. I have a spray that is safe for foam and the canned rubber cement that eats awaw foam. Only use the rubber cement over glassed or wood covered foam.
Show pics of your build if you get a chance. You do great work.
. yeah your right about bagging but i am just playing as well… i got all the gear there and setup… hey what about spraying epoxy through a gun for a lightweight glue. ill post a distance shot when im done mate. fast and cheap and strong is my moto. so i dont like using closeups and slightly out of focus is good as well when posting my boards on swaylocks. bb30 you used to post ages ago from hawaii right. bernies mate cmp charlie?? good to see you posting again man id like to chat more about some of these boards we been snapping in the barrel. my bro did a 3mm paulownia skin 7 6 … should of used wood for the rail airex just doesnt cut the mustard. laminated wood is the ducksnuts. your boards are ridden in the heavy stuff so you would of seen a few longer composites boards snap. totally easy to repair good as new though. interestingly enough the lightweight 7 6" flexi all balsa 1pound eps from 7 years ago is still reigning supreme.
all the shorties i have done i can ride em up the shingle
i have got contact that wont eat poly but the solvent based ones are more waterproof and hellova lot stronger.
i like this idea of contacting a skin to a core and a soft skin to that skin really quick like a boogie board
Hey Paul,
I am Charlie, and Bernie is my friend. My old password would not work so I had to make a new one.
Spraying epoxy resin is an ordeal with protective equipement for yourself and a pain in the arse clean up of your gun. Be careful if you do it, you definately need a respirator./goggles. I would never do it in my current shop situation.
I have seen your nice compsands and I am not sure I could tell you anything you don't already know. Maybe on the bottom make one 3mm deep planer pass and put an extra 3mm thick paulownia plank with glass on both sides.
1lb foam compsands lasting 7 years is great on high use boards.
aloha,
Charlie
