I am getting a lot of pressure dings on my new board right in front of the traction pad, including one big one with some glass cracking on the stringer where I reckon my right knee goes when I duckdive.
I like to move my feet around and trim a bit when I’m trimmed forward, the back foot is off the traction pad. I am considering putting a 4oz patch that’s about a 1 foot diameter circle right in front of the traction pad. Is this a good idea or will I just get a bunch of cracking around the perimeter of the patch? Ideally I would patch the whole back foot area, but the traction pad is already on.
or perhaps I could just leave it alone and duckdive with my foot like god intended and hope for the best. I could also put one of those mini traction pads in front of the main traction pad.
advice?
I gave up traction pads a couple of years ago. They just make me to self conscious of my foot placement.
Pressures are a sign of surfing. Be proud of them.
I live at a beach break and duckdive way to much.My bony knees poke holes in my suit and board.
I decided to make duckdive traction pads where my knee goes.
Got a roll of the 40"x62"grey close out traction pad at Hydroturf.com for $25.Put it on with 3m supper77 spray adhesive and your good to go.They have some cool colored ones for $50.
Some people say traction pads weigh to a lot, but after cleaning the wax off my 8’ board the wax weighed
over a pound.
Good luck,
Ian
