SURFING Magazine and Hurley bring surfboards, art and film to the masses
San Clemente, CA (July 16, 2007) –
SURFING Magazine’s The Art of Surfing, August 19, 2007, will bring shapers, artists, musicians, filmmakers and the public together for a full day of artistic enjoyment in the City of Del Mar, California.
The Art of Surfing, produced in conjunction with the Del Mar Village Merchants Association, will house 30 shapers under one roof. Each shaper will have the opportunity to showcase 16 of their finest crafts. Well-known shapers like Jeff “Doc” Lausch, Stu Kenson, Chris Christenson, Xanadu, Rusty Preisendorfer, Tim Bessell and more will be on hand to meet the public and show and sell boards. Additionally, new technologies will be represented by Aviso, Firewire, and Surftech.
“In the wake of Clark Foam’s closure, there have been so many innovations in surfboard design and materials,” says Ross Garrett, Publisher of SURFING Magazine. “We want to provide a forum for surfers of all walks to check the rocker and feel the rails.”
In addition to surfboards, fine art and photography will be housed in the Powerhouse facility in Seagrove Park. The art is being curated by surf art pioneer Will Pennartz of The Surf Gallery, and will feature art and photography from Wolfgang Bloch, Flame, and Rob Machado.
“The true artists of surfing are our shapers — the master craftsmen who helped shape the sport.” says Rob Machado “I’m stoked to be a part of it.”

That’s what machines are for…
The ultimate program is the human brain, the ultimate machine is the brain sending infinite signals to the body regulating coordination and rhythm, the ultimate result is a true free spirit flying along a wave…
yeah a machine’s just a tool.
you don’t ever see a saw float up to a piece of wood and start sawing away, get a nice cut by itself, Disney excluded.
a tools only as good as the person using it
guns dont kill people, people kill people.
Went to the demo this Sunday and had a good conversation with John Carper re rocker etc- thanks John.
