Hi, I think i’ve just ruined my lovely 7’11" Stewart board by accidently leaving it out in the sun in board bag for a few days last week. Can any one help me!! Headed for a surf in Clare aver weekend and when i opened my board bag i discovered 4 bad areas of delamination on the deck. The glass has become seperated from the foam in 4 different places the bubbles are bigger than an open hand! Whats the best way to fix it. Thinking of injecting resin under the glass to stick it to the foam and if that doesn’t work just cut away the deck in spots and re glass it. Glide surfboards whats your advice, how much would you charge to repare a deck?? might leave it to experienced hands. thoughts please.
Paddy. Drilling at least two holes and injecting resin is the cheapest and quickest way to go. You will have to weigh the bubble down.Use filler resin as it will be easier to sand. Try and leave the weight on ovenight so the resin has a chance to cure. Vacume bagging the bubble down is another option but this will need to be done by someone who is skilled in this process. If you are close to a professional boatbuilder who builds fibreglass boats, they may be able to help you with this. Good luck. David.
