didnt put any concaves in my new shorty. how important are they?

finished a new shortboard,  it turned out great, but i didnt put any concaves into it. what are the cons of not having concaves in short boards?

Lots of boards don’t have concaves. They work just fine.

yes bro, its all relative....... ride the board and feel how it goes.

For me concaves works like power steering....eaaasy turning without loosing speed coz the center is flatter....just perfect thing....thank you so much to whoever invented the concave hehehehe

I´m no pro and thats just my thoughts......Flat maybe need some vee .....maybe think about fins set up to make it turn better....heheeh

Maybe the board just surf great as it is !

good luck

For this year I built myself two boards that are identical other than one has a V bottom and one has a tripple concave.  I kept every other aspect of the two boards as nearly the same as I could.  The board with V performs far better in larger waves where I don't need to pump for energy.  The board with tripple concave works far better in smaller surf where I have to pump for speed.  The v bottomed board also is looser.

Flat is good, flat is fast and loose. Don’t worry you will like it. Worry more about you rails and fin placement

Flat is good, flat is fun,  concaves are a different fun, but fun,  non the less…

It’s all too much fun… I hope the politicians don’t find out how much fun it really is, then TAX  us accordingly…

Come on Resinhead, don’t have the poor guy loose sleep over fin placement… We all know that   no  one  truely  knows  where  the  “right” and the  "only " good  fin location   is… "))

Ask Q’s about pin lines, you get loads of opinions… Ask about  fin location on a   5’-6"  kite - twinzer ?   Dead silence… I love it…

If I’ve learned anything being a member here at Sway’s, I’ve learned this… Go with your gut instinct, until proven otherwise…

My favourite shortboard is 100% flat

Fin placement = Nuke Sub propeller design
