Ben,
Both fins are clearly “in the box”.
Hmmmm, I’ve got a left over box, wonder what I can do with this…
Gee Chipper, where did you get that?
looks familiar Ten ?
okay , how about a 7 finner, then …
Hmmmm, I’ve got a left over box, wonder what I can do with this…
I can’t seem to see the pic , Grant …
Chip
those are some crazy fin set ups
chip whats the purpose of that fin set up. the double longboard fin thing set up.
Theory… If one is good, then two must be bettah!
Hey, we all had a fatty once and all sorts of wierdo ideas came out of it.
If you are different, you are visible.
If you crave attention, make different looking wierdo boards!
McCoy, Crum, Mark Nielsen, the Sandy Beach Boys and Half Point circa…let me see…mid to late 80’s? 6 or more fins, poi pounders and all manner of fin templates, etc etc. The surfing was anything but marginal or “novelty”. It was more like cutting edge, next level, radical and beautiful. Then again, the basic shapes were sound, and those guys could surf on anything.
heres something different
When I was driving to the beach today I saw a car coming the other way with what appeared to be an extremely wide board on the roof. I didn’t get a good look at it, but this thing looked like it was a least 3 feet wide. It was not a windsurfer or tandem board. It did not appear to be more than 8-9 feet long. It had some kind of logo stamped on it, almost like a BZ board. Has anyone seen anything resembling this? God help us, the next alternative surf vehicle for the masses.
It’s a sailboard. The latest easy-to-ride board to try and get people back into windsurfing, or so I was told by someone who got one.
These are exxamples of last years new class into windsurfing: “Formula Windsurfing”. These boards maximize planning area and are designed for early planning with 10-12sqm salis. They are around 220-250cm long and can’t have 100cm of width. Fins are aound 60-70cm deep for upwind performance.
Very expensive.
“Hey, we all had a fatty once and…”
I’ve had a fatty every day I can remember …no kids yet though , thank goodness …

I have no idea…not mine [luckily…]
[Maybe, as in the Talking Heads song you quote in your signature …
[so] "you might say to yourself…
MY GOD ! WHAT have I done ??" ]
"… the same as it ever WAS " ? …
[but different , anyway !]

Neira-
Yep, that pretty much looks like what I saw - ugly looking thing. Somebody will always buy the latest thing.
LeeDDThat was called the sixties and seventies
Enjoy! Very addictive, I promise!!!
maybe not NOW , but I’m sure when they first appeared …
( although, even today here in west oz , people [mostly teenagers] still give me funny looks for having a non-6’2 squaretail thruster, gee it worries me… not ! )
