I keep getting Dimples in my gloss coats. I checked temperature, humidity, cleanliness, old resin, and I can’t find any thing that adds up? Any help?
Howzit Gregg, Are they deep dimples or will they disappear when you rub out the board. Is there a lot or just a few? I sometimes see dimples as the glossresin is smoothing out but they disappear before it kicks off. Maybe the sanded surface is getting contaminated by oil from your hands or whatever. I prep a board by washing it with dish soap and rinsing it good. When you rinse the board watch for spots that the water doesn’t stick to, these can turn into problems. If a second washing doesn’t work then use some acetone and rewash, hopefully that shoud do the trick. All in all glossing is a fickle step, I know a few glassers who still haven’t got it down and let somebody else take care of that end. Oh more thing, be sure to use tape to remove any dust on the board> Aloha, Kokua
