Can anyone recommend a ding repair shop in the Honolulu area? I know there are lots of them, I’m just looking for reasonable price/quality work.
I dont know about town but in Kailua I take my boards to Kimo’s if its something like a blown FCS plug that I cant fix, but he also does all types of repairs.
Bra, what did you do to your board? is it something that you cannot fix yourself? I dont mean to be condescending, I have taken a few bards to get fixed by “Professionals” but that was a long time ago. Depending on what it is I would be happy to help you fix it yourself, in fact I have materails to donate, if you wanted to try to do it “yourself,” but if you are really concerned about the cosmetic part then just take it to a good shop and they will sub it out to someone they trust. I know they are more expensive then many others but I usually send people who want a really good job done to planet surf, they have been around for a long time and they are more concerned about their reputation than most shops that I have seen repairs come out of. Again, I fix all my own boards with few exceptions, of you wanna do it yourself I would be more than happy to spend an afternoon helping you out.

just PM me
I would fix it myself, but its a blown fcs plug and I don’t have the tools to do that anymore. Thanks for your suggestions on places to take my board.
my friends all have had good luck at Blue Planet… the Naish shop in Kailua does good work as well…
In Honolulu you can use Hawaiian Rush and Blue Planet Surf. The best guy with good prices and a fast turn around time is Charlie Wong in Kailua. Email me if you want his number.
Aloha
Take it to kimo green on sand island. It’s the closest to your house. Might as well get a full retro fit red -x system too and won’t have to worry about it again
Take it to Jay Rush in Kakaako. He does the best color match ding repair I have seen in a long time.

Places like Surf Garage, South Shore, and Clips take their high end boards there when they get dinged in transit from California, so they can still sell them at $1300+. Jesus.
thanks for all the advice!
I called Edge Boardworks about a snapped tufflite and the guy told me that it wasn’t worth it for a ‘professional’ job and that I should do it myself and save the money for a new board.
I liked the honesty, but then he EXPLAINS to me how to fix the thing myself and where I can get supplies. That was above and beyond customer service. I’m just saving up for a milwaukee orbital right now so I can finish the job.
I last took my board to the Downing Hawaii shop. They took a long time with it due to the Eddie Akau contest and my board took on a lot of water. The repair was better than expected. I just bought a round pin from them last week.
