ding repair on retro board

I have a 70’s retro single fin that needs a small ding repair on the tail. I have one of those self repair kits from solar-rez, but have heard that they are not that great. I don’t want to screw up the board because it is in pristine shape otherwise. Not sure how to go about this. Should I use the solar-rez kit, or try a real ding repair on my own, or bring it to my local shop? It is basically a crack in the glass that leaves some foam exposed. The foam is not damaged and was not exposed to water. Thanks for your help.

Are you going to ride the board? If not then don’t do anything. If it is a collectable then you can screw up the value with a poor ding repair job. If you are going to ride and enjoy the board then solar resin will do fine (it sounds like a small ding), just follow the instructions and take your time. If you plan on reselling the board, don’t touch it. The few collectors I know would much rather have an older board with a few dings than an old board with a few patch jobs on it.
