Long story short… someone, possibly me, dripped some resin in the fin plug of a nice newer board we are working on. I do know better and should have taped them up.
There is just a thin flat layer of it on the bottom and a drip down the side where it fell in.
Never had this happen before and wondering if the pros could reccommend a safe way to get it out??
A scratch awl or an icepick will work to get it out. A skinny knife blade also. Just push down on it and pry on it. It should pop loose with little effort. Try not to push against the wall of the plug too hard as you can mar the face of the plug. I’ve had it happen quite a few times, no big deal, it’ll come out.
Thanks man… had me sketched out for a bit there. Didn’t want to wreck this dudes board, at all.
On most of the fin plugs/boxes out there, there’s usually still some mold release left inside of the fin tab area since there’s no issue with bonding to the board, resin etc…so like surfthis said, you’re good…most of the time, as long as it’s just a drop or two.
Ya it’s a pain to dig out but it’s turning out fine and the fin sits in there ok now. Gonna scratch it out a bit more. That’ll learn me.
Thanks for the suggestions.
