Dints/air bubbles in foam & Glassing over them.

This is the first blank I shaped. I got a “second” blank for a really cheap price, the reason being that it had some air bubbles in it that could not be sanded out. How will the glassers like this if I put it in to be glassed, can it be done. I also put a small dint in the damn thing on one of the rails. Any info and advice??

Howzit John, If the air holes are small, they’re no problem the resin will fill them when the board is laminated. If the holes are big they can be filled with spackle and sanded before glassing. As for the dent,a heat gun will fix that, but don’t burn the blank. You can check the archives for more info . Aloha, Kokua

how far should you keep the heat gun from the blank?

Do glass shops normally mind fixing these thing up. Im happy with the shape and I dont want to have to worry about the glassing so im going to put it in to get done.

Grab a scrap piece of foam (you do keep your scraps, don’t you?) dent it, then practice.

Howzit Teddy, 6 inches ought to do it, just be careful not to burn the blank. Aloha, Kokua
